What are the characteristics of the production process of n process of galvanized steel sheet?t?

Galvanized steel plate is a material that prevents steel corrosion by coating the surface of the steel plate with a layer of zinc. It is widely used in fields such as construction, automobiles, household appliances, and machinery manufacturing. The production process of galvanized steel sheet has the following characteristics:

1. Substrate selection and pretreatment

The substrate of galvanized steel sheet is usually made of cold-rolled steel sheet or hot-rolled steel sheet, and the quality of the substrate directly affects the adhesion of the galvanized layer and the performance of the product. Before galvanizing, the substrate needs to undergo strict pretreatment, including cleaning, acid washing, rinsing, and drying steps. The purpose of these steps is to remove oil stains, rust, and oxide layers from the surface of the steel plate, ensuring that the galvanized layer can firmly adhere to the substrate surface.

2. Classification of galvanizing process

The galvanizing process is mainly divided into two categories: hot-dip galvanizing and electroplating galvanizing, and their process characteristics and applicable scope are different.
Hot dip galvanizing: Hot dip galvanizing is the process of immersing a steel plate in a molten zinc solution and subjecting it to metallurgical reactions at high temperatures, resulting in the formation of a layer of zinc iron alloy on the surface of the steel plate. The coating of hot-dip galvanizing is relatively thick, usually 50-200 microns, and has excellent corrosion resistance, suitable for outdoor environments and harsh working conditions. The characteristics of hot-dip galvanizing process are high production efficiency, relatively low cost, but high energy consumption, and high requirements for the surface quality of the substrate.

Electrogalvanizing: Electrogalvanizing is the process of depositing a layer of zinc on the surface of a steel plate through the principle of electrolysis. The coating of electroplated zinc is relatively thin, usually 5-30 microns, with a smooth and uniform surface, and has good processing performance and decorative properties. The characteristics of electroplating galvanizing process are controllable coating thickness and high surface quality, but relatively poor corrosion resistance, suitable for indoor environments and products with high surface requirements.

3. Formation and structure of galvanized layer

During the hot-dip galvanizing process, a composite structure consisting of a zinc iron alloy layer and a pure zinc layer is formed on the surface of the steel plate. The zinc iron alloy layer near the substrate has high hardness and wear resistance, while the outer pure zinc layer has good corrosion resistance. This composite structure gives galvanized steel plates excellent corrosion resistance and good mechanical properties.

The coating of electroplated zinc is mainly composed of pure zinc, with a smooth and uniform surface, but lacks the hardness and wear resistance of a zinc iron alloy layer. In order to improve the corrosion resistance of electroplated galvanized steel plates, passivation treatment is usually carried out after galvanizing to form a dense passivation film, further enhancing their corrosion resistance.

4. Post processing technology

Galvanized steel plates usually require post-treatment during the production process to improve their surface quality and corrosion resistance. Common post-processing techniques include passivation, oil coating, phosphating, etc.
Passivation treatment: Passivation treatment is achieved by forming a dense passivation film on the surface of the galvanized layer, further improving its corrosion resistance. Passivation treatment can also improve the surface gloss and appearance quality of galvanized steel plates.
Oil coating treatment: Oil coating treatment is to apply a layer of anti rust oil on the surface of galvanized steel plate to prevent rusting during transportation and storage. Oil coating treatment can also improve the processing performance of steel plates and reduce friction during the stamping process.

Phosphating treatment: Phosphating treatment is to form a layer of phosphate film on the surface of galvanized steel sheet to improve its adhesion with the coating. Phosphating treatment is usually used for galvanized steel plates that require subsequent coating.

5. Environmental protection and energy conservation

The production process of galvanized steel sheet also has certain characteristics in terms of environmental protection and energy conservation. Although the hot-dip galvanizing process consumes a lot of energy, it can be reduced by improving equipment and optimizing process parameters. The electroplating process can reduce its impact on the environment by using environmentally friendly plating solutions, wastewater treatment, and other measures. In addition, galvanized steel plates have a long service life and can reduce steel consumption, thereby reducing resource waste and environmental pollution.

6. Diversified product types

The production process of galvanized steel sheet can be adjusted according to different application needs to produce various types of products. For example, by controlling the thickness and structure of the galvanized layer, different types of products such as ordinary galvanized sheet, high-strength galvanized sheet, and fingerprint resistant galvanized sheet can be produced. In addition, galvanized steel plates can also undergo subsequent color coating treatment to produce color coated steel plates, which are widely used in the fields of construction and home appliances.

7. Quality Control and Testing

Strict quality control and testing are required during the production process of galvanized steel plates to ensure that the product's performance meets the standards. Common testing items include coating thickness, adhesion, corrosion resistance, surface quality, etc. By adopting advanced testing equipment and technology, the quality stability and consistency of galvanized steel plates can be ensured.
The production process of galvanized steel sheet has the characteristics of strict substrate pretreatment, diversified galvanizing process, complex coating structure, rich post-treatment process, environmental protection and energy saving. By optimizing process parameters, improving equipment, and strengthening quality control, galvanized steel sheet products with excellent performance and wide applications can be produced to meet the needs of different fields.
