-Coastal areas: high salt content in the air, salt spray corrosion is obvious, life may be shortened by 30%-50%.
-Industrial areas: acid rain, chemical gases and dust accelerate the aging of the coating, requiring enhanced maintenance.
-Inland dry areas: low humidity in the air, less corrosive factors, life is usually closer to the theoretical value.
-If the coating is scratched or improperly cut during construction, it is easy to damage the protective layer of the substrate, thus accelerating rust and corrosion.
-Lack of regular cleaning and maintenance, dust, chemical deposits or bird droppings accumulate for a long time, will also reduce the service life.
-The thickness of common color steel plate is 0.3mm-1.0mm, the greater the thickness, the stronger the resistance to deformation and corrosion resistance.
When the thickness of substrate is lower than 0.5mm, the life and durability will be significantly reduced, and it is not suitable for long-term architectural use.
-Coating thickness, material and construction process directly affect the weather resistance of color steel plate.
-For example, Z275 galvanized layer (275g/m² zinc layer) is more resistant to long-term corrosion than Z180 galvanized layer.
- Clean the surface dust and sundries every half a year to avoid the accumulation of corrosive substances (such as bird droppings and chemical dust).
- Check whether the coating is peeling, rust spots, small area damage needs timely repair.
- For the rusted parts, first polish and remove rust, then paint special anti-corrosion primer and top coat (such as epoxy zinc yellow primer + polyurethane top coat).
- It is recommended to spray anti-corrosion coating every 3-5 years in coastal areas.
- Prohibit heavy impact or sharp objects to scratch the surface.
- Typhoon prone areas need to reinforce the fixed parts to prevent wind debris.
- Ensure that the slope of the roof is ≥5% to avoid accumulation of water leading to coating soaking and peeling off.
- Sandwich panels need to be kept ventilated to prevent condensation from rusting the inner layer.
- Reserve expansion and contraction joints (usually 0.1%-0.2% of the board length) according to the specification during installation to prevent deformation and cracking.
- Complicated problems (such as large-scale corrosion, structural deformation) should hire qualified construction unit to deal with.
